BEST BEAUTY PRODUCTS OF 2021
I’m picky with my beauty products, so I thought it would be fun to share the best beauty products of 2021. These are products that were gifted or that I purchased and then repurchased again and again – products I highly recommend and think you’ll lobe (how I say love) too! You’ll find a mix of clean and vegan, pricey and affordable beauty, so I hope you find some beauty products that work for you.
These were my favorite face products. I didn’t like Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation the first time I bought it, but gave it another try when it was gifted to me. It’s very skin like, yet covers dark spots nicely. It has a natural feel and nice matte finish too. Nothing too drying, which I dislike. You can also purchase a mini size, which is still a bit pricey, but saves you $20. The Maybelline BB pure with salicylic acid was a great drugstore find. I like that it covers nicely, has a nice dewy and glowy finish, yet is mattefying and acne fighting. And, Merit Minimalist Skin Perfecting stick was a fun discovery. It was gifted, but I actually fell in lobe and repurchased. It’s the most perfect skin like coverage. Im not into stick foundations, but this one blends out seamlessly and lasts. I also prefer a lighter shade to use as under eye concealer. It doesn’t cake or crease under my eye and blends out so smooth. All are buildable and have a nice no-makeup makeup feel, plus last a while. You’re definitely getting bang for your buck with each of these.
Kosas The Revealer Concealer is another favorite of mine. It reminds me of a cleaner and cooler little sister of Tarte Shape Tape. It’s creamy (so little goes a long way), a bit fuller coverage, but is also an eye cream, so it does double duty. I really like this, but do notice a bit of caking and creasing under my eye, so that’s my only annoyance. I might just need to learn how to set my under eye better? We shall see. Another Kosa product I lobe is their lip fuel lip balm. THE BEST LIP BALM!!! It’s an ultra hydrating hyaluronic balm that glides on nicely, feels like my lips are really being hydrated, and lasts. My boyfriend liked it too, so I purchased one for him for Christmas. Lawless Summer Skin Velvet Matte Bronzer is my absolute favorite bronzer ever!!! The tone is perfect for my olive latina complexion and blends out so nicely. Other bronzers tend to have a red undertone and look odd on me, but this one is perfect and a perfect shadow shade for me too.
Mascara is one of my MUST HAVE deserted island beauty products I’d need to have. I have short lashes, so I like my lashes lengthened, volumized, and thickened. All three of those are important to me and these mascaras do all of that. *I don’t use these together, but they’re are great on their own. They also don’t clump, flake, or smudge on me either and don’t irritate my eyes, insanely important, since I wear contacts. Thrive’s liquid lash extension mascara is truly lash extensions in a mascara tube – it builds and the more you build the longer and fuller your lashes look. BareMinerals Strength & Length Serum Infused Mascara was a discovery through a Hailee Beiber makeup tutorial and I fell in lobe. I like that it’s multitasking too. It’s infused with a serum that will help my lashes grow, while lengthening, lifting, and defining my lashes. Can you see a theme here? I like my lashes to look fuller and longer, yet natural too. And, Maybelline sent over their Sky High Mascara when it launched in 2021 and I’ve repurchased 4 times!! I lobe drugstore mascaras, so the two mascaras I shared were surprisingly finds for me, because I don’t like spending more than $10 on mascara. Maybelline’s Sky High Mascara is insanely buildable without clumping and I like that it’s a bit more affordable. All of these mascaras lengthen, build, and don’t irritate my eyes, so definitely check them out.
Ouai’s detox shampoo was an exciting discovery. I can’t use their regular shampoo, because it irritates my scalp, so I was super nervous to try this one when they gifted it. I’m happy to report that it’s amazing!!! The detox shampoo gently and effectively cleanses my scalp (from sweat or product build up), but doesn’t dry it out. I like that it doesn’t smell like apple cider vinegar either!!
If you have wavy thick Latina hair like mine, then you’re going to want to check out IGK Good Behavior Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Anti-Frizz Smoothing Spray!! It’s like a keratin treatment without the crazy keratin process and washes out. I like to use it before I flat iron my hair, because it makes it super sleek. This product not only smooths, but it’s a heat protectant too. Speaking of Latina hair Ceremonia is a new LATINX rooted hair care line!! It smells absolutely amazing and is made for Latinx babes hair types. Definitely check out their range of products, but Ceremonia Oil Mist Con Aloe Vera is my favorite. It’s definitely made for thicker hair types, so be mindful of that, but it smells amazing and makes my natural waves or styled hair super shiny and soft. This oil mist is my favorite oil at the moment and a little goes a long way.
Gisou Polishing Primer product took some time for me to lobe. It’s a product you’re supposed to use before drying or styling your hair, but I fell in lobe after I figured I could use it as a finisher. Once I apply an oil or texturizing spray, then I apply this primer and it has a nice soft hold to it. It’s a great smoothing and finishing product when I’m done styling my hair – definitely recommend.
These are products I like for my wavy thick hair. Deva Curl sent me their new bonding range, which is exciting, because Olaplex is now not the only hair care range creating products that help repair and bond your damaged mane. Deva Curl CurlBond range is specifically formulated for curly babes to re-link broken bonds, improve strength, seal split ends and protect from future damage. They have shampoo, Conditioners, deep conditioners, and serums, so definitely check these out if you’re looking for something to repair your waves, curls, or coils. These next two curl products are great for my hair texture. I don’t have super defined curls, so these help activate my waves and just help them look shiny, soft, and tamed. My number one favorite is Ouai’s Curl Cream, but Livingproofs Curl Enhancer runs a close second.
All I can say is that Dyson’s Hair tools are definitely worth it!! I’ve filmed a full review, so be sure to check out my Youtube channel for that. I’m not going to go into specs of the products, but will say these are worth it for my wavy thick color treated Latina hair. They’re pricey, but definitely use Klarna to help finance them – that’s what I did. If you want to smooth out your hair and create waves that last, then go for the Dyson Corrale, but if you want something that can dry and style your hair, then the Dyson Airwrap is for you. Your can purchased refurbished ones, but you don’t get the same warranty benefits buying new!
Another favorite Ouai product is the Body Cleanser. It’s my ABSOLUTE favorite body wash and smells so so good. It reminds me of BVLGARI’s AU THE VERT’S Perfume. It’s luxe, unisex (my boyfriend lobes it too) lathers and cleanses so well!! I highly recommend, especially since it doesn’t irritate my skin. Luxe Unfiltered Body Cream was one that I didn’t want to lobe, because it’s pricey, but it’s amazing. My skin feels so silky soft after I use it, plus you can choose scented or unscented. And, lastly Glossier’s Exfoliating Bar. I haven’t shared a Glossier product I lobe in a minute, but this one is so unique and exfoliates really well and smells yummy. It’s a bit gritty and rough, but I like it.
