This past year, I’ve gone through an interesting progression with my style. As much as I’ve tried to put, ‘so-called’ trendy outfits together, I never felt comfortable in them. Wearing what I thought everyone would like, never felt like I was being true to myself. I like basic and simple and I’ve finally accepted that. When I’m comfortable, I feel confident and I think we should feel like that everyday, so I’ve decided to embrace a uniform — the pieces that work for me. What’s funny, is this outfit is VERY reminiscent of my High School uniform. I went to an all girl Catholic High School and the plaid skirt I wore everyday was high waist and fluted out, like the Jcrew one I’m wearing. It’s a shape that flatters my body type or my body is accustomed to the fluted skirt shape, after living in it for 4 years? Sneakers have become a new favorite of mine too. The White Saint Laurent sneakers are a more grown up version of the Adidas Original Superstars and Converse Jack Purcells I used to wear. The Anarak + Tee are basic necessities in my book. A white tee goes with anything and EVERYTHING, plus they never go out of style, and bleach keeps them perfectly bright and clean. An anorak is an easy go-to and can easily finish off an outfit in an effortless way. Both the tee and anorak I’m wearing are Azul by Moussy, a super rad Japanese brand. They’re really great at the Classics and they have my favorite kind of uniform pieces. Nothing more classic, than a duffle purse either. Clare Vivier makes a really great duffle (large + mini) in a variety of colors and the red version called my name. I was contemplating between black petite duffle + the british tan duffle, but during that shopping trip, I decided not embrace a classic color . One thing that is very true to my style is I opt for the classics, in regards to clothes, but bags and shoes are a whole other blog post – I like them different and unique.
