This week I thought it would be fun to share how versatile a trench coat is. There are different weights and styles and they’re usually a hefty investment, but if you’re like me and live in California, it’s not really necessary to invest in a trench, and if you’re even more like me, sometimes you don’t want to spend too much on something. I do think they’re worth the investment, but like investments, it’s something you truly have to love, but I fell in love with a couple affordable trench coats from Forever21.
The first trench coat I bought was a collarless black crepe trench coat, which I’m wearing as a DRESS. Trench coats always come with a belt and tie at the waist, which is very much like the classic Diane Von Fustenberg wrap dresses, but I decided to swap the belt with a black leather one with gold details. Talk about the perfect LBD. This trench coat is made out of crepe material, making it not too fitted and forgiving, perfect as we come out of the holiday season of eating. Not all trenches will come in this material, so be mindful of that if you want to rock it as a dress. As usual, I kept things simple, but dressed it up with gold accents. The look is a bit professional, so it can work for something business related or it’s a perfect polished dressy look for whatever you need to dress up for. I think this look would look nice in tan, which is another color option, but black is always my go-to.
