I’m not too sure if it was just a So-Cal kid thing, but slip-on Classic Slip Vans were our jam. The fact that slip-on sneakers are being made in chic and cool styles, beyond my favorite checkerboard Vans, is an answer to my prayers, because I can channel my teen years as a 20 something. The colors and styles the slip-ons come in are so good. If I had the chance to rock my Catholic School uniform with black-pony hair slip-ons and tights, it would have been the chicest thing to me. I had the opportunity to add a pair of chic slip-ons to my shoe collection thanks to Piperlime. These burgundy ones I’m wearing are very reminiscent of Celine’s Pony Hair Sneakers, but the one’s I’m wearing are way more affordable, because they’re actually by Superga. I was super shocked and super impressed that Superga ventured into the slip-on realm and #idonthateit. I’m pretty weird about my shoes showing their wear, so I tend to opt for black, because scuffs and stains aren’t as noticeable, but I’m totally sold on these burgundy pair. Since it’s CYBERMONDAY they’re actually 30% off, but if you’re not into the burgundy they have black, and if you’re not into the pony-hair I found some other options on sale that are an additional 40% off the sale price – talk about #wootwoot. I know December has arrived and we’re supposed to be saving and gifting others, but if you want to experiment with chic slip-ons at a bargain, I say DO IT.
The jeans were another gift courtesy of Piperline. If you haven’t noticed, I’m petite and I have some curves on me, so jeans that comfortably fit the derriere is a must. These Citizens of Humanity are high-waisted (keeps the butt nice and pert), skinny, and are the perfect combination of denim and stretch. I had them tailored to be the perfect ankle skimming length for my petite frame, but they’re definitely a great length pre-tailoring, so if you’re Tall, they’re definitely for you too.
Surprisingly, it has been pretty chilly in California, so I paired the sneakers and denim with a favorite turtleneck and leather vest. I don’t know if I ever mentioned, but the vest was kind of a DIY. I’ve been wanting a moto style leather vest, but nothing was available in my price point. This vest was actually a jacket on sale, but it had plaid sleeves, so I took matters into my own hands and cut the sleeves off and I couldn’t be happier. As for the mini-bag, I’ve had that for a couple years. The exact time I fell in love with it was a couple weeks before Coachella 2013. I was obsessed with the Celine Nano Luggage Tote , but not for a couple Gs and this Coach Mini Tanner bag was very reminiscent of the Celine Nano. Don’t be fooled by its size, the mini carries a lot. During Coachella that year, I was able to stuff a polaroid camera, iPhone, iPhone charger, my wallet, and make-up for three full Coachella days. Any Coachella alumni knows that’s major.
Also, you notice I did my hair?! haha I’ve been channelling Ariana Grade’s trademark hair style and I’m kind of into it.
Don’t forget it’s CYBER MONDAY, so if you want to score the jeans and sneakers they’re 30% off with promo code CYBERSALE.
