If you follow me on INSTAGRAM, then you’re well aware that I attended the ACE HOTEL’s grand-opening Friends and Family rooftop party. The ACE has taken over what was a movie studio Mary Pickford co-founded with United Artists Theatre, and it’s SUPER RAD. Downtown Los Angeles has its fair share of hotels, a favorite of mine is the Standard Hotel, their rooftop bar, beer garden, and restaurant have been a go-to for me, but now there is a new kid in town to enjoy. Rather than being an oh, so modern hotel, ACE embraced the buildings rich history and foundation. It’s modern and streamlined, but the late 20’s early 30’s are definitely roaring with the chosen – or bet yet, kept- interior. They brought life back into the Broadway location, but still kept it true to ACE’S style and I love it. The building is a silver cinema staple and it’s amazing to see it get its second chance of fame the building and theatre will get as an ACE HOTEL. The history and stories of the building and theater are amazing, almost like make believe, but there are images and research you can google to prove. The Gothic architecture is something to swoon over too. You get a better glimpse on the roof and my grainy iPhone photos don’t do it justice. There is a cool Moorish vibe with an industrial Downtown Los Angeles edge upstairs and it’s worth a peep and a cocktail or two. Be sure visit next time you’re in the area. I can’t wait to try their restaurant, LA CHAPTER, I heard their menu is superb.
In regards to what I wore: I opted for some color that night: WHITE. I bought these white wide-legs pants recently, while thrift shopping, and I finally picked them up from the tailor, so it made perfect sense to rock them. Since its been a bit chilly I opted for a white cotton fisherman’s sweater, with my favorite lace-up Schutz bootie, and my NEW AMAZING BEAUTIFUL Carven leather jacket. Can’t wait to get some detail shots on that for ya. It’s a babe.
